Medical professionals who have acceded to the convention with the NIHDI are entitled to an annual allowance that can be used in the context of a supplementary pension, death insurance or disability insurance (or a combination)
The social status is digitized
To apply for the social status, the doctor currently has to submit a paper application form for each premium year. When applying for a social benefit, the insurance company with which the care provider has concluded a contract also signs the form. This is about to change.
The digitization process must ensure that the paper information flows largely disappear. The management of the social status must be automated as much as possible, so that care providers have to take as few individual actions as possible. In order to achieve this, the NIHDI data is linked to other data sources, such as the Crossroads Bank for Social Security (CBSS).
What changes?
It is no longer necessary to submit a paper form to the NIHDI. The digital contracts can now be consulted online. The evaluation result can be consulted for each premium year. In most cases, no further action is required subsequently. After all, if the evaluation result shows that the doctor is entitled to the premium, payment will follow automatically.
Pharmacists, physiotherapists, speech therapists and nurses will have online access to their file in the course of the second quarter of 2020. For them, the paper application form will be abolished from the premium year 2019.
At the beginning of 2021, doctors and dentists will have access to their online file that then relates to the premium year 2020. The paper application form will disappear for them from the premium year 2020. Because the NIHDI will process the paper application forms relating to 2019 for doctors and dentists in 2019, the following applies for them no application procedure in 2020.
